McCORORY, DIXON ADVANCE TO NCAA MEET

GREENSBORO, N.C. –
Hampton University senior Francena McCorory and sophomore Reggie Dixon advanced to the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships by virtue of their strong performances on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the NCAA East Regional, held at the Irwin Belk Track on the campus of North Carolina A&T.

McCorory (Hampton, Va.), a two-time NCAA champion in the 400-meter dash, ran a season-best 52.21 in the semifinals to post the second-fastest time of the meet. She is seeded fifth in the 400-meter dash for the upcoming NCAA Championships.

McCorory finished third in the outdoor 400-meter dash at the NCAA Championships last season.

Dixon (Plainfield, N.J.) ran a 10.18 in the semifinals of the 100-meter dash, coming in 10th as he broke his own school record in the event. Dixon will be seeded sixth in the NCAA Championships. Junior Aaron Anderson (Fort Washington, Md.) finished 12th in the semifinals of the 100-meter dash with a 10.30 to also advance to the NCAA Championships as the No. 14 seed.

Dixon and Anderson were also part of the Pirates' 4x100-meter relay team that ran a school-record 39.55 to advance to the NCAA Championships with the ninth-fastest time. Juniors Predist Walker (Suffolk, Va.) and Devon Brown (Laurel, Md.) were also on the relay squad.

The 2010 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be held June 9-12 in Eugene, Ore. Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon will be the host site.
