McCORORY EARNS ALL-AMERICA HONORS AGAIN

2010 Outdoor USTFCCCA All-Americans By Event (PDF)

NEW ORLEANS –
Hampton University senior Francena McCorory earned All-American honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Monday, by virtue of her third NCAA title in the 400-meter dash.

McCorory (Hampton, Va.) won the title, her first outdoor crown, on Friday at Hayward Field at the University of Oregon when she ran a season-best 50.69.

Joining McCorory on the 400-meter dash All-American list are: Auburn's Joanna Atkins, Oregon's Keshia Baker, Texas A&M's Jessica Beard, South Carolina's Brandi Cross, Arkansas' Regina George, Columbia's Sharey Hale, Mississippi State's Jody-Ann Muir and Arkansas' Shelise Williams.

Already the 2009-10 USTFCCCA Indoor Female Track Athlete of the Year, McCorory also earned All-American honors for the 2009-10 indoor season. She was also an All-American in the 400-meter dash in the 2009 outdoor and 2008-09 indoor seasons.

She won the 2009 NCAA indoor title with a 51.54, before defending that crown this past March with an American-record 50.54.

This is another in a long list of accolades for McCorory, who in May was named First Team All-MEAC in the 400-meter dash and the 4x400-meter relay – to go along with her First Team All-MEAC honors during the indoor season in the 200-meter dash, 400-meter dash and 4x400-meter relay.

Her performance at the MEAC Indoor Championships earned McCorory the Most Outstanding Runner award.

McCorory, a three-time MEAC Athlete of the Week during the 2009-10 academic year, was First Team All-MEAC in the outdoor 200-meter dash and 400-meter dash last season, while also earning indoor First Team All-MEAC honors in the 400-meter dash and 4x400-meter relay.

McCorory was also named First Team All-MEAC after taking the outdoor title in 2008.
