Women's 100-meter hurdles results: First Round | Semifinals | Finals
DES MOINES, Iowa – Former Hampton University track & field star Kellie Wells finished second in the 100-meter hurdles on Saturday at the 2010 USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships held at Drake Stadium on the campus of Drake University.
Wells, representing Nike, ran a 12.84 in the final, coming in second behind Asics' Lolo Jones, who ran a 12.69.
Wells finished second in her heat in the first round on Friday, running a 12.99 to finish fifth overall in the round and move on to the semifinals. There, she ran a 13.08 to finish second in her heat and fourth overall.
Former Lady Pirate Yvette Lewis, a two-time NCAA champion at Hampton University, ran a 13.63 in the first round to come in 17th.
Wells was the first indoor All-American in Lady Pirates history, when she finished sixth in the 60-meter hurdles at the NCAA Indoor Championships in 2006. She followed that up in 2007 by finishing seventh in the same race to earn All-American honors for the second time.
Recent Hampton University graduate Francena McCorory (Hampton, Va.) also competed in the event this past weekend, finishing second in the 400-meter dash on Saturday with a personal-best 50.52. Debbie Dunn won that event with a world-best 49.64.
