ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Hampton University sailing team finished ninth in the Senators Cup hosted by St. Mary's College on Saturday and Sunday.

The Pirates finished with 282 points.

Seniors Andy Shoemaker (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Hykeem Gaddis (Las Vegas, Nev.) sailed in the A Division, tallying 170 points and recording a best finish of sixth. Sophomore Joshua Gopeesingh (San Juan, Puerto Rico) and freshman Giuditta Di Laghi (Albenga, Italy) were in the B Division, recording 112 points and finishing every race in the top 10.

Old Dominion won the regatta with 104 points, finishing 21 points ahead of second-place U.S. Naval Academy.

The Pirates will return to action on Saturday and Sunday, when they compete in the South #2 hosted by Georgetown University.
