PELLERIN NAMED FIRST TEAM ALL-MEAC

NORFOLK, Va. – Hampton University senior defensive back Micah Pellerin was named First Team All-MEAC this season, the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) announced on Tuesday.

Pellerin (New Orleans, La.), a Preseason First Team All-MEAC selection, was the lone Pirate named to the conference's First Team, and was among four Hampton players overall to be recognized by the MEAC.

Pellerin was tied for seventh on the team in tackles this season with 51 (29 solo, 22 assisted), while also breaking up 15 passes, the most in the MEAC, and recording four interceptions – which was tied for second-most in the conference.

He had a season-high 10 tackles (six solo) against Princeton on Oct. 8, and he also forced a fumble against Howard on Nov. 5.

Senior defensive lineman Ian Davidson (Washington, D.C.) and sophomore linebacker Delbert Tyler (Monroeville, Pa.) were each named Second Team All-MEAC on defense, while junior punter Jordan Stovall (Elgin, S.C.) also earned Second Team All-MEAC honors.

Tyler led the Pirates with 110 tackles (42 solo, 56 assisted) this season, ranking third in the MEAC with an average of 10.0 tackles per game. Tyler also had 11 tackles for loss, to go along with a sack against North Carolina Central on Oct. 22.

He had a season-high 18 tackles against Howard, while also recording 17 stops at Old Dominion on Sept. 17.

Davidson tied Pellerin for seventh on the team with 51 tackles (18 solo, 33 assisted) on the season, including 13 for loss – the third-most on the team. Davidson recorded a season-high seven tackles at Old Dominion.

He also blocked what would have been the game-winning field goal in the season-opening Chicago Football Classic on Sept. 3, preserving a 21-20 win over Alabama A&M.

Stovall was second in the MEAC in punting this season, averaging 39.4 yards per punt in 69 kicks on the season. Stovall had 10 punts of at least 50 yards this season, recording three touchbacks and pinning 19 kicks inside the 20-yard line.

Norfolk State's Chris Walley and Mike Mayhew of North Carolina A&T were named Co-Players of the Year, while Ryan Davis of Bethune-Cookman earned MEAC Defensive Player of the Year honors. Norfolk State's Blake Matthews was named Offensive Lineman of the Year, and Greg McGhee of Howard was named Rookie of the Year.

Pete Adrian of Norfolk State was named MEAC Coach of the Year.
