NORFOLK, Va. – Hampton University junior forward
Danny Agbelese was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.
Agbelese (Lanham, Md.) grabbed 13 rebounds and blocked 13 shots in two games for the Pirates. At North Carolina A&T, Agbelese pulled down three rebounds and blocked six shots in 17 minutes of action. He followed that performance with 10 rebounds and a career high-tying seven blocks in a double-overtime loss to Bethune-Cookman on Saturday.
For the season, Agbelese has blocked 89 shots, an average of 3.4 per game.
Bethune-Cookman's C.J. Reed was named MEAC Player of the Week, while Howard's Alphonso Leary earned Rookie of the Week honors.
