Camp Itinerary
HAMPTON, Va. – The Hampton University softball team, led by head coach Trena Peel, will host the first annual Trena Peel Softball Camp on Saturday and Sunday, July 30-31, on the campus of Hampton University.
Saturday's Little Pirate camp will be for children ages 6-12, while children ages 13-18 will take part in the Elite Pirate camp on Sunday.
The itinerary will be the same for both days.
Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. and run until 8 a.m., when warm-ups and agility exercises will begin. At 8:45 a.m., the camp will move on to throwing mechanics and the fundamentals of throwing.
Defensive training will begin at 9:30 a.m., with drills starting at 11 a.m. Lunch will be from noon to 1 p.m., and campers are asked to bring a sack lunch.
Campers will warm-up again at 1 p.m., before beginning base-running techniques at 1:30. Bunting drills will begin at 2 p.m., while hitting will start at 2:30. A mini-scrimmage will be held at 4 p.m., and the day will end at 4:55 p.m. with a question-and-answer session.
Registration for the Little Pirate camp is $75 per person, or $50 per person for groups of at least 10, while registration for the Elite Pirate camp in $99 per person, or $75 per person for groups of at least 10. Payments can be made with cash, check or money order.
