THREE PIRATES EARN MEAC WEEKLY FOOTBALL HONORS

NORFOLK, Va. – Three members of the Hampton University football team earned weekly Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) awards, the conference office announced on Monday.

Senior quarterback David Legree (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was named MEAC Offensive Player of the Week for the second straight week, while sophomore linebacker Delbert Tyler (Monroeville, Pa.) earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Junior kicker Taurean Durham (Uniondale, N.Y.) was named Special Teams Player of the Week for the second straight week.

Legree went 25-for-35 in the air is Saturday's 45-42 road loss to Old Dominion, throwing for 260 yards and a touchdown, while also rushing 17 times for 66 yards and another score.

Tyler tied a game high with 17 tackles – including eight solo stops and 2.5 tackles for loss – at ODU. He also forced two turnovers, one of which resulted in a touchdown, and recorded one quarterback hurry.

Durham hit both of his field goals – from 37 and 32 yards out – while also hitting four extra-point attempts and accounting for 10 of Hampton's 42 points.

Tiron Guion of North Carolina Central was named MEAC Rookie of the Week, while Blake Matthews of Norfolk State earned Offensive Lineman of the Week honors.

The Pirates will return to action on Thursday, when they head to Daytona Beach, Fla. to take on Bethune-Cookman at 7:30 p.m. The game will be televised live on ESPNU.
