TOLEDO, Ohio – The Hampton University women's basketball team, fresh off a break for end-of-semester exams, will compete in the Toledo Invite on Thursday and Friday at the University of Toledo's Savage Arena.
The Lady Pirates will take on Prairie View A&M on Thursday at 4:30 p.m., before taking on either host Toledo or Evansville on Friday at either 4:30 or 7 p.m.
Hampton (7-3) has won three straight games after an 81-36 dismantling of Maryland Baltimore County on the road back on Dec. 7, while host Toledo sits at 8-1 overall after beating Marquette 82-71 on Saturday for its seventh straight win.
Prairie View A&M is 2-5, snapping a two-game winning streak with a 72-60 loss at Kansas on Sunday, while Evansville sits at 2-7 on the season and has lost six straight games after falling 63-59 to Saint Louis on Dec. 9.
The Lady Pirates are 0-2 all-time against Toledo, having dropped the first two meetings in 2002 and 2003. Hampton lost 82-55 to the Rockets in Toledo on Dec. 9, 2002.
Hampton has never faced Prairie View A&M or Evansville.
The Lady Pirates are 2-5 all-time against schools currently in the SWAC, the second conference (other than the MEAC) at the Division I level comprised of historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs). They are 1-1 against Alabama State; 1-2 against Grambling; 0-1 against Jackson State; and 0-1 against Southern.
Hampton has never faced Alabama A&M, Alcorn State, Arkansas Pine Bluff, Mississippi Valley State, Prairie View A&M, or Texas Southern.
The Lady Pirates are 2-5 all-time against schools currently in the Mid-American Conference (MAC). They are 1-1 against Bowling Green; 0-1 against Buffalo; 1-0 against Central Michigan; 0-1 against Miami (Ohio); and 0-2 against Toledo.
Hampton has never faced Akron, Ball State, Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Northern Illinois, Ohio, Massachusetts, or Western Michigan.
The Lady Pirates are 1-0 all-time against schools currently in the Missouri Valley Conference, with that win coming against Northern Iowa in 2001 (67-61 on a neutral court). Hampton has never faced Bradley, Creighton, Drake, Evansville, Illinois State, Indiana State, Missouri State, Southern Illinois, or Wichita State.

David Six, the Lady Pirates are 35-13 in road games — including a 13-3 mark away from the HU Convocation Center last season. Hampton's success on the road has been a large part of the team's recent dominance in the MEAC; the Lady Pirates were a perfect 8-0 in road conference games last season.
The Lady Pirates won their first five roads game of the 2012-13 season, taking care of Southern Miss, Mississippi State, South Carolina State, Savannah State, and UMBC.
Hampton is 0-3 on neutral courts so far this season.
