GENEVA, N.Y. – The Hampton University sailing team closed the 2011-12 season on Saturday and Sunday with an 18th-place finish at the America Trophy hosted by Hobart & William Smith College at Seneca Lake.

The Pirates were competing in the MAISA championship regatta for the third straight year.

Hampton finished with 343 total points, tallying 166 points in the A Division and 177 points in the B Division. Georgetown won the regatta with 59 total points – 37 points clear of second-place St. Mary's (Md.) College.

Saturday saw 8-12 knot winds from the south, which died off around 12 p.m. and returned at 4 p.m. Sunday's breezes hovered between 6-12 knots.
