LEGREE SIGNS FREE-AGENT DEAL WITH COLTS

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Former Hampton University quarterback David Legree signed a free agent contract with the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday, according to the team's website.

Legree (Brooklyn, N.Y.) threw for 1,636 yards in nine games last season, completing 61.6 percent of his passes (141-for-229) and throwing 10 touchdowns. He threw for a season-high 298 yards on Oct. 22 in a 30-27 overtime win over North Carolina Central.

He threw two touchdowns three separate times last season: against Florida A&M on Sept. 8, against Princeton on Oct. 8 and at Norfolk State on Oct. 15.

In three years with the Pirates, Legree recorded 4,812 yards of total offense – fourth-most in program history. He is also third in program history in career pass completions with 332, and fourth in program history in career passing yards with 4,118.

He also threw 26 touchdowns at Hampton, seventh on the program's career list. He totaled 33 career touchdowns in the air and on the ground, fifth-most in program history.

His 141 completions this past season are the fifth-most in program history in a single season.

Legree is the second former Pirate to sign a free agent deal with the Colts this offseason; defensive back Micah Pellerin (New Orleans, La.), a two-time First Team All-MEAC selection, signed with Indianapolis on May 1.
