NORFOLK, Va. – Hampton University senior forward
Keiara Avant was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.
This is the second such award this season for Avant; she also earned the honor on Dec. 31.
Avant (Chesapeake, Va.) recorded her 14th double-double of the season last Monday in a 68-59 win at Coppin State, pouring in 16 points to go along with a team-high 14 rebounds. She also blocked two shots and had three steals against the Lady Eagles.
Savannah State's Erin Hogue was named MEAC Player of the Week, while North Carolina A&T's Eboni Ross earned MEAC Rookie of the Week honors.
