HAMPTON, Va. – The Hampton University sailing team competed with two squads in the MAISA/SAISA Intersectional at Strawberry Banks on Saturday and Sunday, coming in ninth and 13
th in the final team standings.
Hampton tallied 146 points to come in ninth, while the other squad was 13
th with 252 points. St. Mary's won the regatta with 81 points.
Veronica Maccari and Krista Kraskura raced in the A Division for Hampton's "A" team, tallying 83 points, while the tandem of Kimannee Simon and Albert Berk Toledo were the A Division sailors on the second squad.
Giuditta di Laghi and Kitija Megne were the A Division sailors on Hampton's "B" team, recording 63 points, and Jela'Ni McCarthy and
Joshua Williams tallied 122 points.
A full day of racing occurred in ideal conditions on Saturday, but Sunday's action was cut short after conditions caused several boats to capsize.
