NORFOLK, Va. – Hampton University sophomore guard
Malia Tate-DeFreitas was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Co-Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.
It is the second such honor for Tate-DeFreitas (Harrisburg, Pa.) this season.
She totaled 43 points, seven rebounds and three steals against Bowling Green and Auburn at the FIU Sun & Fun Classic this past Monday and Tuesday in Miami, Fla. She poured in 26 points, including four 3-pointers, against Bowling Green for her eighth 20-point effort of the season.
Tate-DeFreitas was named the tournament's MVP.
She shared the MEAC Player of the Week honor with Maryland Eastern Shore's Alexis Udoji.
Moengaroa Subritzky, also from Maryland Eastern Shore, was named MEAC Rookie of the Week, while Morgan State's Zuri Smith was named MEAC Defensive Player of the Week.
