HAMPTON, Va. – The Hampton University softball team dropped its series finale against Morgan State on Sunday at the Lady Pirates Softball Stadium, falling 8-2.
The Lady Pirates are now 9-15 overall and 2-1 in MEAC play.
Hampton struck first in the bottom of the first inning; after junior

Hope Sobelewski both singled, senior
Taylor McCoy singled up the middle bring home Budden and give the Lady Pirates a 1-0 lead.
Morgan State tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the second on a home run from Kimberly Fontaine, before an RBI single from Stormy Zyzyk gave the Bears (5-16, 1-2 MEAC) a 2-1 lead.

Ashley Grassini opened up the bottom of the second inning, and DeSchepper later scored when sophomore
Lorena Alvarez reached on an error to tie the game at 2-2.
But the Bears added three runs in the top of the third – including a two-run single from Danielle Pitpit – to take a 5-2 lead. Morgan State also scored three times in the top of the fifth, including a triple from Pitpit, to open up an 8-2 lead.
Sobelewski and Budden each had two hits for the Lady Pirates.
Freshman
Allie Hotetz struck out four in 6.2 innings of work.
