PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – The six-game winning streak by the Hampton University volleyball team was snapped on Saturday night in a 25-23, 25-17, 25-12 loss to Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Northern Division leading Maryland Eastern Shore.
Reeana Richardson and
Kyndall Nicholas each had six kills for Hampton (8-12, 2-1). Richardson didn't have an attack error in 10 chances, while Nicholas only had one in 11 chances. Lena Reed-Petracek had 10 assists, while
Maja Petronijevic topped the team in digs with 10.
Hampton tied the first set five times and as late as 22-22, but consecutive service errors allowed the Hawks to pull away to win the opening set 25-23. The hosts then took the wind out of the Pirates sails with quick work in the second and third sets.
The Lady Pirates are now on the road again at defending MEAC champion Howard on Friday, Oct. 13.
