BALTIMORE, Md. – The Hampton University women's tennis team saw its winning streak hit seven in a row on Saturday with a 5-2 win at Morgan State in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Northern Division matchup.
Hampton (8-2, 3-0) won two of the three doubles matches to take the team point. At line #1,
Kristina Titova and
Mariam Mitaishvili scored a win after taking the first game of the match by an injury.
Mikaela Pierce and
Cherise Slocombe won at line #2 7-6 (8-6) to give Hampton a 1-0 lead.
In singles, Titova won by injury at line #1 and Mitaishvili won 6-3, 6-4 at line #2. Pierce took the clinching win at line #5 with a 6-1, 7-6 (7-4) win over Yvette Pierce-Washington. Hampton also got a win by Slocombe at line #3 6-4, 6-3 to lock the 5-2 win.
Hampton steps outside of MEAC play on Sunday morning when they visit the Richmond Spiders for an 11:30 am start.
