LANDOVER, Md. – The Hampton University women's indoor track and field team finished fourth in the 2018 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Championships held at the Prince George's County Learning Complex.
On Saturday, 10 Lady Pirates earned All-MEAC honors finishing in the top eight in their events. In the shot put,
Corneisha Mitchell took second place with a toss of 46-8.75 while
Kiyanna Thomas finished seventh with a 43-0.5 toss.
The mile run saw Hampton take a 3-4-5 finish with
Janet Okeago leading the pack in 5:04.70. Eusila Chepkemei took fourth in 5:05.02 and
Pollyanna Velasco was fifth in 5:09.60.
Meshala Morton finished third in the 60 meter dash in 7.48, while
Autumn Smith took sixth in the 60 hurdles running an 8.60. Okeago and Chepkemei took second and seventh respectively in the 3000 meters with Okeago running 10:09.80 and Chepkemei a 10:34.49.
The mile relay team consisting of
Sashana Hinds, Morton, Smith and Asha Copeland ran 3:49.38 to take fourth.
N.C. A&T State won the meet with 163.5 points, followed by Bethune-Cookman with 104 and Florida A&M with 96,5 as Hampton had 96 points.
Hampton will next compete in the ECAC Championships over the weekend of March 2.
