PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. – The Hampton University golf teams opened play in their 2017-18 season-ending event at the PGA Minority Championships on Friday as the men are in fifth with a 317.
The women are playing as individuals in the event and have three in the top 12 topped by
Jakari Harris with an 80 over the PGA Village course.
Leading the men after day one was
Arriek Douglas with a four-over-par 76 to tie for eighth overall.
Alex Rivera shot a 79, while
Jordan Samuels (80), Taylor Osborne (82) and
Justin Bates (85) rounded out the Hampton participants.
For the women, Harris shot an 80 to finish tied for third in the individual standings.
Lizabeth Randles shot an 81 to end day one tied for sixth, while
Lauren Price is in 12
th after an 88.
Due to inclement weather forecasted for Sunday, the event will play 27 holes on Saturday with the final nine on Sunday morning.
