PRINCETON, NJ – Hampton track and field teams competed in the IC4A/ECAC Championships this weekend at Princeton University. The men placed 12th out of 43 teams in the IC4A with 23 points, while the women placed 23
rd out of 45 teams with 15 points.
The top eight in each race earned All-IC4A (men) and All-ECAC (women) honors.
- Wesley Kirui continued his stellar spring with a first place in the 3000 steeplechase in 8:56.30 for 10 points.
- Tayvon Burris took third in the 800 meters in 1:50.58 for six Hampton points.
- The 4x800 relay team finished in 7:34.94 to take fourth for five points with the grouping of Burris, Kirui, Emmanuel Too and Geoffrey McCullough.
- Charles Graham was seventh in the 110 hurdles in 14.89 for two points. He qualified for the finals with a 14.42.
For the women
- Jaelen Leonard took second in the long jump with a season-best leap of 20-3.75 for eight Hampton points.
- Janet Okeago placed fourth in the 10k in 35:59.44 for five Hampton points.
- Asha Copeland was seventh in the 100-meter dash running 12.07 to give Hampton two points.
Next up for the teams will be the NCAA East Regionals in Tampa, Florida May 24-26.
