LEXINGTON, Va. – The Hampton University track and field teams competed in the Keydet Invitational this weekend and came away with seven top five and 20 top 10 finishes in the meet held at Virginia Military Institute.
Senior
Jerrick Powell took first in the 400 meters in 48.42, while
Mallory Pitchford won the 60 hurdles for the second week in a row running an 8.51.
Ayana Culhane took third in the weight throw (56-4.5) and fourth in the shot put (46-4) for a pair of top four finishes.
Kiyanna Thomas finished third in the shot put (46-4.25).
Senior
Tayvon Burris took fourth in the 500 meters in 1:03.86 as all of the top four finished under the previous fieldhouse record at VMI.
Freshman
Zuri Rashad took a pair of top ten finishes with an eighth in the 5000 (19:30.55) and tenth in the 3000 (11:06.32).
Next up for the track teams will be the Liberty Invitational Jan. 25-26
