HAMPTON, Va. – Coming off its sweep of the Big South Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, the Hampton University track teams will send eight individuals and one relay team to the NCAA East Regional Championships starting on Thursday in Jacksonville, Fla.
On the women's side, the 4x100 relay team is currently ranked 17
th in the region after a 44.81 in the Big South Conference Championships. The team consists of
Autumn Smith,
Asha Copeland,
Isis Brooks and
Mallory Pitchford.
Smith is ranked 32
nd in the 400 hurdles after a time of 59.53 in the Big South Conference, while Brooks ran 11.54 in the 100 meters to qualify from the Big South Conference meet.
Joining them will be
Jaelan Leonard after she took second in the Penn Relays with a qualifying leap of 6.11 meters.
For the men, the hurdles events will be covered as three Pirates made the 110 hurdles while one made the 400 hurdles. Â
Jaelen Williams will run in both after qualifying for the 110 hurdles in 14.04 and ranked 10
th in the 400 hurdles in 50.80.Â
Dylan Beard (14.01) and
Charles Graham (14.04) will join Williams in the 110 hurdles
