Hampton University rising senior Ashley Bates was featured in the newest issue of Slam Magazine in a section called "Picture Me Ballin".

Bates was recognized for her record-setting junior season when she became the first Big South women's basketball player to earn both Big South Player and Defensive Player of the Year honors.  She also broke a 31-year old conference record with 125 steals.

In her junior season she set career bests in every category averaging 17.4 points, 4.9 rebounds and 4.3 steals per game.  She hit 46% from the floor, 31% from 3-point range and 65% from the foul line which were all tops in her three-year Lady Pirate career.
