HAMPTON, VA. -The Hampton Pirates men's basketball team announced its 2019-20 non-conference schedule today with participation in the O'ahu Classic while also facing off against some old Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference opponents.
"This schedule will be one to get us ready for the Big South in year two," said Hampton head coach Buck Joyner. "With several new opponents on the slate and hosting what will be a great three-game stretch in December, this will challenge us to head into conference play."
The Pirates open the season with a pair of home games starting on November 6 against Mid-Atlantic Christian University from Elizabeth City, NC, followed by The Apprentice School on November 12. A short trip up Interstate 64 will take them to their first road game at William & Mary on the 15
th.
The Pirates will then prepare for the O'ahu Classic hosting Regent University on November 21. They'll then be on the road for the rest of the classic visiting University of Illinois (Nov. 23), University of San Francisco (Nov. 26) and then wrap up the classic visiting Cal State Bakersfield on November 29.
December starts with a stretch of three big home games the first week of the month. Hampton opens against the University of Richmond on Tuesday, December 3 before hosting Howard University two nights later. The week will end with the Battle of the Bay against Norfolk State on Saturday, December 7.
After exam break, Hampton will visit Southern Illinois on December 18
th and then Kent State on the 21
st. The Pirates will finish their non-conference schedule facing off against St. Peters at home on the 28
th.
The 2019-20 Big South Men's Basketball Conference slate will be announced in the upcoming weeks.
