HAMPTON, Va. -- Following in the footsteps of the women's basketball team who lead all of HBCU basketball in attendance this past season, it was announced today that the Hampton men's basketball team also topped HBCU hoops in attendance according to figures released by the NCAA.
The Pirates averaged 3,764 fans for their 16 home dates in the 2019-20 season highlighted by over 7,100 in attendance for the Battle of the Bay with Norfolk State. over 4,500 fans attended the matchup with Howard, while games against Presbyterian and USC Upstate brought in over 4,000 apiece.
Southern University was second among HBCU schools averaging 3,489, while Tennessee State joined them averaging over 3,200.
