The Hampton University women's triathlon team will compete in its inaugural meet on Saturday at the Kinetic Cup held at Smith Mountain Lake, Va.

This meet is one of three NCAA national qualifiers during the year and will see five NCAA Division I schools (East Tennessee State, Denver, South Dakota, Wagner, Hampton) along with five NCAA Division II schools competing (Wingate, American International College, Drury, Queens, St. Thomas Aquinas).

The event will consist of a 750-meter open water swim, followed by an 18.5-kilometer draft-legal bike race and then a 5-kilometer run.

Hampton will have Grace Hughes, Jessica Johnson and Makenah Farrington competing.
