CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Big South Conference announced its 2021 Women's Basketball post-season awards on Friday and Hampton came away with a pair of honorees as sophomore
Nylah Young was a second team selection, while junior
Alyssa Sweeney was an All-Academic selection.

Young finished the regular season ranked sixth in scoring (13.3 ppg) and ninth in rebounding (6.5 rpg) in the conference. A preseason First Team All-Conference selection, Young had two double-doubles this year and had a season high 20 points against USC Upstate. She had 19 points, 10 rebounds and three assists in a loss at High Point and added 17 at nationally-ranked Rutgers.

Sweeney, a Sports Management major, was selected to the All-Academic team. She is involved in the Hampton University Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) and has been a three-year letterwinner. Sweeney saw action in 11 of the 15 games this season.
