NORFOLK, Va. – A league-best 17 Hampton Lady Pirates were recognized on Monday by being named to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference 50
th Anniversary All-Time Women's Indoor Track and Field team as announced by the conference.
Nearly 300 total votes were cast, with fans, media representatives, institution sports information contacts and others taking part. To be considered on the ballot, student-athletes must have either posted one of the MEAC's top three times in an event, been named an All-American, MEAC Indoor Track & Field Championship Outstanding Performer or a MEAC Hall of Fame inductee.Â
The Lady Pirates won or shared 14 indoor titles in its tenure as a member of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, that total included a stretch of winning from 2003-09 and again from 2011-16.
Representing Hampton on the team were (in alphabetical order):
Ce'aira Brown, Hampton: 2016 First Team All-American, 800-meter run; 2015 Second Team All-American, 800-meter run; two-time MEAC Indoor Championship Outstanding Runner (2014, 2016); MEAC second-fastest time in the 800-meter run (2:04.72, 2016) and mile run (4:51.63, 2016).

Claudia Calder, Hampton: 2012 MEAC Indoor Championship Outstanding Field Performer; MEAC top mark (1.78 meters, 2011) and third-best mark (1.75 meters, 2012) in the high jump; MEAC second-best (3,728 points, 2012) and third-best (3,694 points, 2011) marks in the pentathlon.
