NORFOLK, Va. – A league-best 17 Hampton Lady Pirates were recognized on Monday by being named to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference 50^th Anniversary All-Time Women's Indoor Track and Field team as announced by the conference.

Nearly 300 total votes were cast, with fans, media representatives, institution sports information contacts and others taking part. To be considered on the ballot, student-athletes must have either posted one of the MEAC's top three times in an event, been named an All-American, MEAC Indoor Track & Field Championship Outstanding Performer or a MEAC Hall of Fame inductee. 

The Lady Pirates won or shared 14 indoor titles in its tenure as a member of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, that total included a stretch of winning from 2003-09 and again from 2011-16.

Representing Hampton on the team were (in alphabetical order):

Ce'aira Brown, Hampton: 2016 First Team All-American, 800-meter run; 2015 Second Team All-American, 800-meter run; two-time MEAC Indoor Championship Outstanding Runner (2014, 2016); MEAC second-fastest time in the 800-meter run (2:04.72, 2016) and mile run (4:51.63, 2016).
 
Claudia Calder, Hampton: 2012 MEAC Indoor Championship Outstanding Field Performer; MEAC top mark (1.78 meters, 2011) and third-best mark (1.75 meters, 2012) in the high jump; MEAC second-best (3,728 points, 2012) and third-best (3,694 points, 2011) marks in the pentathlon.
 
Teiara Denmark, Hampton: 2014 Second Team All-American, long jump; two-time MEAC Indoor Championship Outstanding Field Performer (2011, 2014).
 
Jade Fisher, Hampton: 2003 MEAC Indoor Championship Outstanding Performer.
 
Yvette Lewis, Hampton: 2006 NCAA champion, triple jump; two-time All-American (2006, 2007), triple jump; 2007 All-American, long jump; three-time MEAC Indoor Championship Outstanding Performer (2005, 2006, 2007); MEAC top mark in the pentathlon (3,852 points, 2007); MEAC Hall of Fame Class of 2013.
 
Nakia Linson, Hampton: 2014 Second Team All-American, long jump.
 
Francena McCorory, Hampton: Two-time NCAA champion, 400-meter dash (2009, 2010); two-time First Team All-American, 400-meter dash (2009, 2010); 2010 MEAC Indoor Championship Outstanding Runner; MEAC top time in the 400-meter dash (50.54, 2010); MEAC Hall of Fame Class of 2017.
 
Le'Quisha Parker, Hampton: 2015 Second Team All-American, 200-meter dash.
 
Benita Taylor, Hampton: 2013 Second Team All-American, 800-meter run; MEAC third-fastest time in the 800-meter run (2:07.26, 2013).
 
Racquel Vassell, Hampton: 2011 Second Team All-American, 60-meter hurdles; 2009 MEAC Indoor Championship Outstanding Performer; 2011 MEAC Indoor Championship Co-Outstanding Runner; MEAC third-best mark (6.16 meters, 2010) in the long jump.
 
Kellie Wells, Hampton: 2006 First Team All-American, 60-meter hurdles; MEAC's top time (8.08, 2006), second-fastest time (8.13, 2006) and third-fastest time (8.15, 2006) in the 60-meter hurdles; MEAC Hall of Fame Class of 2014.
 
Hampton 4x400-Meter Relay Team, 2016 (Erin Morrison, Tanisha Greene, Ce'aira Brown, Kristian Young): MEAC top time with a 3:40.22.
 
Hampton Mile Relay Team, 2013 (Shantae Boney, Benita Taylor, Le'Quisha Parker, Malekah Holland): MEAC top time with a 3:35.19.
