HAMPTON, Va. – The Hampton University sailing team will return to the water this fall as its Fall 2021 schedule was released on Tuesday morning.  Coach Alessandro Ambrosi will lead his Pirates into as many as seven meets over September and October.

The season begins with a pair of meets on September 11-12 with the Riley Cup at Old Dominion and the Laser South Championships at the U.S. Naval Academy.  A top nine finish in the Laser South will qualify for the Middle Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association (MAISA) Singlehanded Championship later in the fall. Hampton will head to Williamsburg the following weekend to participate in the Kingsmill Cup at The College of William & Mary on September 18-19.

After a weekend off, the MAISA Laser Championships will be hosted by the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in New York with a top 4-5 finish qualifying for the Singlehanded Nationals later in the fall.

The Pirates will participate in the Atlantic Coast semifinal regatta at Yale on October 9-10 and depending on a finish will qualify for the championship in Maryland on October 23-24 at either Navy or St. Mary's College.

The fall season will conclude across the water at Old Dominion on October 30-31 at the MAISA Coed Fall Championship.
