HAMPTON, VA – The Hampton University men's basketball team suffered a home loss in Big South Conference play to the Longwood Lancers 73-48 Monday night.

The contest featuring the Pirates and Lancers started as back-and-forth affair as both teams traded jump shots and layups. With 12:48 to go in the first half, following a basket by Garvin, Hampton found themselves down 12-10. Missed opportunities and turnovers by the Pirates sparked a 25-5 run in the final 10 minutes of the first half in favor of the Lancers, as they took a 39-17 lead into halftime.
The Hampton offense could not find its rhythm early on in the second half, as Longwood extended their lead by as many as 34 points.
Hampton hits the road Wednesday, January 26 to take on Campbell in a Big South matchup with tipoff coming at 7p.m. on ESPN +.
