Greensboro, NC- The Hampton University Track and Field team competed in the Aggie Invitational on April 3-4 at North Carolina A & T.

Due to weather conditions the two-day meet was moved to a single-day meet on Saturday at Marcus T. Jackson Track.
"Due to the unseasonable weather in North Carolina, we did not perform our best at the 2022 Aggie Invitational. However, the female throwers and male jumpers had some good performances. We will continue to work hard as we look forward to our next competition". Maurice Pierce
Freshman Dugion Blackman (Kingston, Jamaica) won the men's 800-Meters with a time of 1:51:20. Jordan Mozie (Upper Marlboro, MD) recorded a second-place finish running a 2:14.15 in the women's 800 Meters.
The Pirate's Amira Aduma (Hampton, VA) had a solid day in Greensboro reeling in a second-place finish in the women's 100 Meters clocking in at 11.70.
In the 4 x 100 Relays, HU's men's and women's teams placed third. The men finished with a 41.06. The team was comprised of Abraham Evans (Virginia Beach, VA), Moffat Wanjiru (Nairobi, Kenya), Noah Langford (Virginia Beach, VA), and Aiden Whyte (Newport News, VA). The women's 4 x 100 relay team of Aduma, Jaydea Carter (Pembroke, FL), Jazlyn Jefferson (Jarratt, VA), and Kyna Robinson (Garner, NC) recorded a 46.89 finish
Hampton also had some success in the field events, highlighted by a first-place finish in the long-jump for sophomore Otis Slayton jumping 7.35 m (22' 10').
"I feel good, I pr'd that's big, but there's always room for improvement, and I'm going to continue working hard to do that," said Oluwatomilayo Akintunde freshman thrower.
The Pirates will be back in action on Saturday, April 16 at the Gamecock Invitational in Columbia, SC.
