HAMPTON, VA- The Pirates Kiaya Jeusi (Woodbridge, VA) earns First-Team All-Conference and Lauryn Brooks (Waldorf, MD) earns All-Academic Team honor.

Jeusi is in the Pirates pitching rotation, plays first base, and also started playing second base towards the end of the season. She has been the true definition of a utility player for the Pirates.

"She excels anywhere we put her, whether that be in the batting lineup or in the field on defense," said head coach Monique White.

The senior has played in all 52 games. Kiaya has recorded the second most RBI's on the team with 25. She's third in hits with 41 and third in batting average at .270. During the 2022 season she hit a pair of home runs and a pair of triples, pitched 36 strikeouts, and stole 11 bases. Jeusi is second in putouts with 203.

Lauryn Brooks was awarded the 2022 Presidents Cup Award Recipient, the award is the highest Academic award at the university.

She was also listed as an Athlete Scholar, a member of the Chi-Alpha Sigma Honor Society Member, and made the Deans List during her time at Hampton. Brooks was a Freddye T. Davy Honors College 2022 Inductee.

She has completed prestigious internships as a BSRP Summer Intern at Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard Seattle Structural Genomics Center for Infectious Disease. Lauryn will be conducting Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine research at the University of Pennsylvania. On the field she was a huge presence for the Pirates.
