CAA Preseason Men’s Basketball Coach’s Poll Announced

RICHMOND, Va. (Oct. 19, 2023) … Charleston is picked to win the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) men's basketball crown in 2023-24, according to a vote of the league's coaches. The Cougars last season had an overall record of (31-4) finishing tied for first in the conference during the regular season. Charleston would go on to win the CAA Championship securing a spot in the NCAA tournament. They would eventually fall to San Diego State in the first round. The Cougars received a total of 165 points and 10 first-place votes in the preseason poll.

UNCW (24-10, 12-6 a year ago), was picked to finish second receiving 157 points and three first-place votes. Drexel would be the only other team to revive any first-place votes and are slatted to finish third. Hofstra is close behind dragons with just three points separating them in the poll. Delaware and Towson round out the conference's top six with both squads receiving 115 points. 

Hampton is selected to place 13th ahead of North Carolina A&T. The Pirates posted a (8-24) overall record and went (5-13) in league play. HU would face Monmouth in the opening round of the CAA tournament. The Pirates had swept the regular season series but fell to the Hawks in the first round 100-64.
