TOMS RIVER, N.J. – The Hampton University sailing team took home second place last weekend participating in the Ocean County Spring Open.
 
Hampton amassed 73 points to only trail Washington College (65) in the standings. Rounding out the top five were Syracuse (122), Stony Brook (133) and Rochester Institute of Technology (149).
 
In the A Division, Hampton finished in the top three in eight of the 13 races to total 49 points. Sailing in that division were: Valerio Palamara/Can Dilikoglu.
 
The B Division saw Hampton finish in the top three in all but one race, including winning eight times for 24 points. Sailing B Division were: Stefano Palamara/Tommaso Ciaglia/Jose Chapa.
