Hampton's sailing team will compete in the Mid-Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association Championship on April 29-30 hosted by Old Dominion University. Races commence at 10:00 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
Eighteen teams will be competing including Hampton, Old Dominion, Virginia, Christopher Newport, George Washington, Georgetown, U.S. Naval Academy, Merchant Marine-Kings Point, Fordham, Cornell, Penn, Princeton, Drexel, St. Mary's (Md.), SUNY Maritime, Washington College, Hobart and William Smith, and Webb Institute. A total of 18 races are scheduled during the two-day event to determine the conference's two automatic qualifiers for the Fleet Race National Championship. Thirty-six teams qualify for the national championship which is slated for May 30-June 2 at Kings Point, N.Y. Tulane is the defending national champion.
