RICHMOND, VA. (August 8, 2023) … Hampton resumed its fall football drills in anticipation of the season-opener against Grambling State on Sept. 2 in Harrison, N.J. at 3:00 p.m. in the Brick City Classic. Tickets for the classic are available through ticketmaster.com.

More than 100 players, who hail from 15 different states including 38 from Virginia, are in the preseason camp. Coach Robert Prunty's Pirates posted a 4-7 record a season ago in their first year in the Coastal Athletic Association.

Following the game with Grambling State, Hampton plays longtime rivals Norfolk State (Sept. 9 at Armstrong Stadium) and at Howard (Sept. 16) before starting the conference portion of the schedule at Richmond on Sept. 30.

On hand for the drills was Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) commissioner Joe D'Antonio who is making the rounds prior to the start of the season.
