STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (Jan. 27, 2024) – The Pirates men's and women's track & field teams wrapped up action at the PSU National on Saturday afternoon in State College, Pa. at Penn State.
Friday's Results
Abria Smith finished in sixth place in the women's weight throw (17.37m). In a separate weight throw event,
Victoria Caldwell took eighth (17.02m). Danielle Jones tied for seventh in the long jump with a distance of 5.53m.
Dugion Blackman finished first in his heat in the 800m (1:48.40) and ended up placing sixth overall in the event.
Saturday's Results
Freshmen
Antoine Spencer ran a spectacular race as he won the 200m dash with a time of 21.74.
Qhiyal Towns earned fifth place in the same event (21.78).
"Historically, we always have great performances at Penn State and that didn't change this time," said Coach
Maurice Pierce. "We continue to get better every weekend."
Sophomore
Emmani Shaw helped kick off Saturday's events for the Lady Pirates by grabbing third place in the high jump (1.73m). In the 200m, freshman
Morgan Pruitt placed seventh with a time of 24.90 seconds.
Nina Pitt notched a tenth-place finish in the triple jump (11.55m). Meanwhile,
Dejah Grant took eighth in the 400m (55.63).
In the women's shotput,
Oluwatomilayo Akintunde,
Abria Smith and
Nya Harmon ended up in 10th, 11th and 12th places respectively (14.43m, 14.40m and 14.28m).
Both the men's and women's 4x400m teams posted successful outings.
Kayla Spencer,
Morgan Pruitt,
Jordan Mozie and
Dejah Grant won the women's race with a time of 3:43.41. On the men's side,
Drake Murphy,
Antoine Spencer,
Korede Otusaio and
Dugion Blackman earned third place (3:14.95).

The Pirates travel to Columbia, S.C. next Friday and Saturday to participate in the South Carolina Invite.
