Angelina Branch Tabbed as CAA Rookie of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. (Feb. 13, 2024) ... Coastal Athletic Association this morning released the first Player of the Week awards for the 2024 season. After a successful outing at the Singer Classic, Hampton's Angelina Branch was selected as the CAA Rookie of the Week.

Branch in her first collegiate game posted a shoutout while going the full seven innings. The Chesterfield, Va. native, produced 10 strikeouts and only gave up three hits. She is the only Lady Pirate pitcher to have 10 or more strikeouts in a game since joining the CAA. The last time a Hampton pitcher had 10 or more strikeouts was during the 2014 season. Jailynn Jackson was on the mound for HU on March 8 and led the Lady Pirates to a win over St. Bonaventure.

The Hampton University softball team returns to action at the Battle at the Bay this Friday. The Lady Pirates kick off the tournament against America East for Bryant at 10:00 AM.
