BUIES CREEK, N.C. (April 24, 2026) …Amber DeSena drove in four runs with two hits, while Alliyah Swiney was 3-for-3 with three RBIs as Campbell defeated Hampton 14-3 in five innings in their CAA series opener on Friday evening.
Campbell (29-19) opened the scoring with three runs in the top of the first with RBI doubles from DeSena and Madison Ford along with a sacrifice fly from Charlie Montgomery. In the second, the Camels scored five highlighted by a two-run single by Swiney.
In the third, DeSena cleared the bases with a triple and scored on an infield single from Montgomery to push the lead to 12-0. Emma Slutzah and Swiney had RBI singles in the fourth as the lead grew to 14-0.
Hampton (10-31) got on the board in the top of the fifth as
Leah Maduro singled and advanced on a walk to
Kamryn Brown. Another walk to
Santrea Armstead loaded the bases before
Jayleen Reeves singled in Maduro and an error allowed Brown to score. After an infield single by
Riley Bohanon loaded the bases, a
Cassidy Lee groundout scored pinch-runner
Priscilla Michel for the final tally.
Carmynn Bonner had a single in the first inning to go along with the three hits Hampton had in the fifth inning.
Due to impending weather, the series has been adjusted now to a doubleheader on Saturday with the first game at 11 a.m. and the second scheduled for 2 p.m.
