TOWSON, Md. (Feb. 3, 2024) – The Lady Pirates defeated the Morgan State Bears by a score of 6-1 on Saturday evening.  

Hampton took advantage of the short-handed bears, winning five singles matches and two of the three doubles matches to bring their overall record to 1-1.

Mio Kozaki and Sofia Sokolova are 2-0 on the season after taking down Hannah Smith and Lauryn Hall by a score of 6-4. Meiri Okuwaki and Masa Mitic fell to Moysiadi and Evdokimora 6-4. Lucia Jorrin Fernandez and Diana Starodubtseva won by forfeit.

In singles, Kozaki won a tiebreak thriller against Evdokimora 6-2, 4-6, 10-8. She is now 2-0 in singles play. Okuwaki increase her overall record to 2-0 after taking down Hall by margins of 6-4, 6-4. Jorrin Fernandez battled against Moysiadi to win set one of her match 7-6. She dominated in set two, 6-2, to find her first win of the season. Mitic and Sokolova each won their matches by forfeit.
