Hampton Student-Athletes Continue Extraordinary Academic Success

HAMPTON, Va. (May 30, 2024) … Hampton student-athletes continued to excel in the classroom in the Spring 2024 semester. A record number of student-athletes earned a grade point average in excess of 3.00 for the semester.
 
"We are incredibly proud of our student-athletes and their commitment to academic success," Director of Athletics Anthony D. Henderson Sr. said. "Our student-athletes continue to raise the bar with their amazing success in the classroom. Special thanks to our Academic Achievement & Leadership staff and coaches who provide the framework and tools necessary for our student-athletes to excel."
 
Hampton teams posted outstanding grade point averages (GPA) across the board. Teams maintained high academic standards in both the Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 semesters. This remarkable success reflects the commitment of the university to provide a quality education as well as the support needed to succeed.
 
Highlights:
  • Hampton student-athletes posted an overall 3.22 grade point average in the Spring 2024 semester.
  • A record 235 Hampton student-athletes achieved a 3.00 or higher GPA in the Spring 2024 semester, illustrating the dedication and commitment to academic success.
  • A record total of 33 student-athletes earned a 4.00 GPA for the Spring semester.
  • A total of 12 teams recorded a cumulative average of 3.00 or higher for the Spring semester. Eight teams boasted a GPA of 3.25 or better including softball (3.64) men's tennis (3.59), women's tennis (3.49), women's basketball (3.40), women's track (3.38), women's cross country (3.37), volleyball (3.37), and triathlon (3.25).
  • Overall, 12 teams earned a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher.
  • A total of eight teams have a cumulative average of 3.25 or better led by men's tennis (3.68), women's basketball (3.54), softball (3.50), sailing (3.49), women's tennis (3.45), women's track (3.41), triathlon (3.40), and women's soccer (3.33).
