Cheyenne Talbot was named MVP at the HBCU All-Star Dream Classic on Aug. 10. The game was played at historic Rucker Park in Harlem.
An audience of more than 2,000 was in attendance for the 2024 event which included men's and women's all-star games along with band, dance team, and cheerleader competitions. The All-Star Dream Classic was designed to promote HBCU players, institutions, and conferences.
A native of Mt. Vernon, N.Y., Talbot led all scorers in the event. Talbot played at Hampton for her final two seasons after stops at Monroe College and Siena. As a senior, she led the Lady Pirates in rebounding and was the team's second-leading scorer.
In April, Talbot played in the Women's College Basketball Showcase Event in Cleveland, Ohio in conjunction with the NCAA Final Four.
Former Hampton men's standout Marquis Goodwin played in the men's All-Star Dream Classic contest. Goodwin played at Hampton for three seasons and finished his Pirate career with 775 points and 196 rebounds.
