HAMPTON, Va. (Oct. 10, 2025) … The Hampton University volleyball team dropped match two against Hofstra Friday afternoon.
In the first set the two teams traded blows early as Hofstra held a slim 9-8 lead. Katerina Pappa and Racquel Frazier led the way in the early stages with a kill a piece. The Pride took control of the set, rattling off a 12-0 run to take control and win set one 25-11.
Set two saw the Pirates jump out to an early lead in the second set with back-to-back kills from Jaya Rimm and Gabriella Prather. After a small Hofstra run, Hampton fought back to bring the set within four halfway through. Following a Pappa kill to bring the score to 18-14, Hofstra recorded seven out of the next eight points to take set two 25-15. The Pride used that momentum in the third set, and took down Hampton for the second consecutive day in three sets 25-13.
The Pirates were led by Pappa who buried home eight kills, while Prather added a career high seven. Ida Wiszomirska led Hampton in assists with 23, while Pappa and Wiszomirska recorded a team high eight digs each.
