MT. PLEASANT, S.C. (Oct. 2, 2025) … A pair of first half goals from Maggie Hefferman helped to propel homestanding Charleston Cougars in a 4-0 victory on Thursday night over Hampton in CAA Women's Soccer play.
Hefferman scored her first goal at 9:03 off a corner kick feed from Bella Antonio putting it into the bottom left of the net for the early 1-0 lead. The second goal was off a give-and-go with Faith Slimmer at 26:42 to bring the advantage to 2-0.
Hampton had a good stretch in the first half forcing the action in the Cougars end and got off a couple shots, but couldn't solve the mystery of Ainsley Chunn in goal who had a pair of saves.
In the second half, Antonio blasted one from 25 yards out to go up 3-0 at 67:06 and Ellison Stewart made it 4-0 with a shot after picking up a loose ball inside the 18-yard box at 85:03.
On the night, the Cougars held a 24-5 advantage in shots. The goalie tandem of
Avery John and
Annika Kleffmann had a total of seven saves.
Hampton now heads to UNCW for a 1 p.m. Sunday first kick in Wilmington, N.C.
