HAMPTON, Va. (Oct. 23, 2025) ... The Hampton University volleyball team dropped match one of two with Towson Thursday night.
In the first set, the Pirates and Tigers traded blows early, as it was Towson holding onto a 8-5 lead. Following a Towson 6-0 run, Katerina Pappa buried home a kill to halt the momentum. A point later, Jaya Rimm added a kill of her own to help Hampton cut into the lead. Hampton closed the first set out on a 4-1 run courtesy of two Pappa kills, but it was Towson taking the set 25-15.
Hampton quickly responded in the second set. Rimm went on a 4-0 run of ace's to help Hampton jump out to a 7-5 lead. The two teams went back and forth for the remainder of the opening stages of set two before Racquel Frazier added two kills to knot the score at 15. The Tigers closed the set out on a slim 10-6 burst to take a commanding 2-0 lead. The Tigers used that momentum in the third set, racing to a 17-3 lead early, and closing the match out in three sets.
The Pirates were led by Pappa's seven kills on the night, while Frazier burried five of her own. Morgan Warren led the Pirates with 17 assists and Rimm recorded a team best eight digs.
