BOSTON, MASS. (Nov. 1, 2025) … The Hampton University volleyball team fell in three sets to Northeastern Saturday afternoon.
The first set saw the Pirates jump out to an early 4-2 lead courtesy of kills from
Jaya Rimm and
Racquel Frazier. The Huskies responded with a quick 5-0 run to take the lead, but it was Hampton clawing back bringing the set within three after a Northeastern error. The Huskies then used another run to take full control of the first set, winning it 25-15.
Hampton responded early in the second set, rattling off five early points on Northeastern miscues. The two teams then settled in and traded blows for the next few points, capped off by a
Katerina Pappa kill to give Hampton a 10-7 lead. After a
Kylah McNeal kill, the two were knotted at 12 before Northeastern quickly took the lead with four consecutive points. Hampton continued to fight with two kills by Frazier, but ultimately Northeastern closed the set on a 7-3 run to take a commanding 2-0 lead.
After jumping out to a 7-3 lead in set three, Hampton once again fought back. Frazier buried home back-to-back kills, and Hampton trailed 8-6 early. The two sides exchanged points before Hampton ripped off a 4-0 run of their own to bring the set within two at 13-11. The Pirates then fell down seven when Northeastern added five consecutive points, forcing Hampton to comeback once more. The Pirates continued to fight, adding a 4-0 run, but eventually Northeastern edged the Pirates 25-21 to win the match in three sets.
Hampton was led by Frazier's eight kills, while Pappa added six of her own. Defensively,
Maria Clara Andrade recorded a team high nine digs, while
Lillian Campbell added three blocks on the afternoon.
