HAMPTON, Va. (Feb. 28, 2025) … Hampton University men's basketball team is set to face Towosn in the final regular season contest of the 2024-25 campaign. Tip-off in TU Arena is set for 4:00 p.m. and the game will be available on FloCollege.

ABOUT THE SERIES 

The Pirates are 2-2 all-time against the Tigers. Hampton won the most recent matchup 67-61 inside the Convocation Center. The series has favored the home team with the host winning every matchup. Hampton's first-ever meeting came during the 2010-11 season at the Convocation Center. The Pirate's last meeting at TD Arena came in HU's second season in the CAA.

ABOUT HAMPTON

Coach Ivan Thomas's side in its last time out fell on the road to Drexel 53-52. Noah Farrakhan led the Pirates in scoring with a game-high 18 points. Farrakhan did most of his damage in the second half producing 12 points. The Pirates played staunch defense the entire night. While the Dragons had the advantage in the paint, HU held Drexel to 11 percent shooting from beyond the arc. Hampton won the rebounding battle 37-35 and had success on the offensive glass. The Pirates grabbed 13 offensive boards against the Dragons.

Throughout the entire 2024-25 campaign the Pirates bench has been an asset ranking first in the CAA for bench points per game. Hampton's 36.5 bench points per game also ranks third in the nation. HU's bench has outscored their opponent on 25 separate occasions. While Hampton is fourth in the conference for rebounding margin (3.9), the Pirates have been one of the best offensive rebounding sides in the country. Hampton is tallying 13.1 offensive rebounds per game which is 34th in the nation. 

ABOUT TOWSON

The Tigers have clinched the CAA regular season title and will be the one seed at the conference tournament. After Towson fell to Charleston in the opening weekend of conference play, TU won 12 straight games. The Tigers have been impressive on their home court only losing to UMBC. Towson is coached by Patrick Skerry who is in his 14th season with the program. While under the helm with the Tigers, Skerry has won over 233 games. 

Towson has had one of the best defenses in the country this season. The Tigers are holding opponents to 65.7 points per game which is the 27th fewest points allowed in the nation. Similarly to Hampton, Towson is active on the offensive glass. The Tigers are tallying 13.1 offensive rebounds per contest. Mekhi Lowery anchors Towson's defense. Lowery has produced 27 blocks this season which is the 13th most in the league.
