Fairfield, Conn. (Mar. 14, 2026) … The Hampton University men's lacrosse team dropped its first conference game with Fairfield on Saturday 26-7.
Fairfield struck first Saturday, netting a goal in the first 30 seconds of the game, but it was Hampton's Maliik Wood responding quickly with a goal of his own three minutes later. The Stags then rattled off three consecutive goals, before Howard Casterlow deposited a goal to bring the game within two at 4-2 with 3:19 left in the first quarter.
The second quarter proved to be all Stags, as they scored 12 second frame goals to take a commanding 16-3 lead into the break. Fairfield used a 8-0 run to close the half to extend their lead into the break.
After a strong start from Fairfield to start the second half, Anthony Bardonille Jr. settled the Pirates in at the 5:45 mark with his first goal of the afternoon. His goal was the lone goal of the quarter for the Pirates.
Hampton outscored Fairfield in the fourth quarter 3-2 as Wood paced Hampton with two goals, and Bardonille Jr. added one of his own in the frame.
The Pirates were led by Wood's hat trick, which also included three assists. Ayron Norton caused three turnovers on the defensive end, while Miles Lancaster registered 5 saves.
