William & Mary Foils Pirates On Senior Day

HAMPTON, Va. (Mar. 7, 2026) ... Hampton celebrated Senior Day against local rival William & Mary in the final game of the regular-season. Hampton (10-20, 4-14) trailed throughout most of the contest before making a run midway through the fourth quarter to erase a 10-point Tribe lead. In the late-going, Hampton took a three-point lead 53-50 but William & Mary (16-13, 9-9) battled back for a 61-60 win over the Pirates.

Seven members of the team were honored in pregame ceremonies. Le'Asia Foreman, Tyra Kennedy, Aisha Dabo, Kiya Dorroh, Olivia Smth, Taylor Gibson and Tiani Abrams all played their final home game at the Convocation Center.

After a three-pointer by senior Aisha Dabo to start the game, William & Mary reeled off 11 consecutive points to lead 11-3 at the 5:10 mark. The Tribe held the lead until the final two minutes of the contest. Aaryn Battle's trey with 4:54 left snapped the Tribe run and cut the deficit to 11-6. KiKi McElrath's trey and a free throw helped close the gap to 14-10, though the Tribe scored the final basket of the first quarter to lead 16-10.

After falling behind 22-12 at the 6:21 mark of the second on a three-point play from Cassidy Geddes, the Pirates closed to 22-17 after a trey by Smith and a Dabo lay-up. The Tribe held a 28-20 lead at intermission as Hampton struggled to find the range, making 25.9 percent of its shots in the first half. But five of the team's field goals were from beyond the arc. Olivia Smith led the Pirates with nine first-half points, all on three-pointers. Geddes led all scorers with 10 for the Tribe as they used their inside game to dominate scoring six of their baskets inside the paint.

The Tribe scored the first seven points of the third quarter to open up a 35-20 lead in the first 1:29 of the period. Following a Pirate timeout, McElrath canned back-to-back long three-pointers making the score 35-26.

A 7-0 Hampton run to end the third quarter made the score 41-38. The Pirates hit 7-of-14 shots in the period with four three-pointers to spur the comeback. McElrath had six points in the third period alone.

Hampton closed to within one, 41-40, on Foreman's rebound and turnaround basket in the opening seconds of the final quarter. But seven consecutive points by the Tribe increased William & Mary's lead to 48-40 with 8:17 remaining.

But Hampton refused to quit. The Pirates battled back to tie the score 50-50 and Dorroh's three-pointer with the shot clock winding down put Hampton in the lead 53-50 capping a 13-2 Pirate run.

William & Mary's Alexa Mikesa made one of two free throws with 10.5 seconds left to give the Tribe a 61-58 advantage. Hampton's Gibson's lay-up brought the Pirates to within one, 61-60 as time expired.

McElrath paced the Pirates with 14 points, while Smith had 12 on four triples and Gibson added 11 and five boards for Hampton. The Pirates hit a season-high 11 three-pointers tyingthe eighth most in a game in program history.
