HAMPTON, Va. (April 5, 2026) … The Hampton University men's track and field team ventured to three meets this weekend participating in the Texas Relays, Florida Relays and Norfolk State Invitational.
 
Highlighting the weekend was another school record for Delano Lawrence in the discus at the Florida Relays. His toss of 53.81m (176-6) topped his throw last weekend at the East Carolina Bill Carson Invitational 53.31m (174-11).
 
Texas Relays
Marquis White took 10^th in the long jump with a leap of 7.33m (24-0.75).
 
Florida Relays
On top of Lawrence's school record discus toss, the Pirates had a pair of top 20 finishes in a meet with plenty of Southeastern Conference and Atlantic Coast Conference participants.
Ethan Moody ran a season-best 51.64 in the 400 hurdles to take 14^th, while Yashahya Brown ran season bests of 14.37 in the 110 hurdles for 18^th and 56.80 in the 400 hurdles.
 
Norfolk State Invitational
Jayden Poteat took third in the 200 meters (21.07) and fourth in the 400 (47.39). Jaci Summers was fourth in the 100 (10.41) and Khari Barnes (10.53) was seventh.
Joining Poteat in top 10 of the 400 were Jason Woods in fifth (47.92) and Daniel Danner (47.98) was sixth.
Dominic Basset and Garth Naar were 1-2 in the 400 hurdles with Basset in 55.07 and Naar in 55.24.
In the high jump, based on fewer misses, Rolando Sampson, Prince Osagie-Erese and Daven Gibson finished 3-4-6 with all having a best leap of 1.95m (6-4.75).
Daye Karibi-Whyte took second in both the discus (46.72m/153-3) and hammer throws (49.63m/162-10).
Robert Crawford took third in the javelin with a toss of 39.87m (130-10).
In the long jump, Deimon Collins was second in 7.07m (23-2.5) and Joseph Ernest was third in 7.02m (23-0.5).
